Our Statement
on Decolonizing Language
You'll notice we use the term collaborator in place of the term stakeholder. Why, you ask? It's pretty simple. The term stakeholder is rooted in historical violence and oppression. We choose to decolonize our words in acknowledgement of the harm and trauma they cause.
This is just one example of how we actively examine the power of our words, our behaviors, and our systems and how they impact members of our community. Understanding is not enough. It's how we act on that knowledge that makes the difference.
